It is very easy and relatively quick to get here. There are several direct flights every day from almost every UK airport. Flights take about 2 hours.
It is also possible to come by train. There is now a direct high-speed train from London to Marseille. There are various options from getting to Nice from Marseille, including regional trains. During peak season there is also a direct high-speed train from London to Avignon. Eurostar also operate trains from London to Paris or Lille, where you can change to get a high speed TGV train to Nice.
From Nice airport
The airport bus (route ) is an easy and inexpensive way of getting to the apartment. It costs €6 per ticket. Click here for timetable.
If your flight lands at Nice Cote d’Azur terminal 1 (BA / Norwegian):
After exiting the baggage reclaim area, immediately turn left and exit the building (there should be “bus” signs overhead). The bus ticket office is on your left. The bus departs from Bus Stop 1.
If your flight lands at Nice Cote d’Azur terminal 2 (easyJet):
After exiting the baggage reclaim area, head out of the building and turn right. The bus ticket office is about 50 meters away. The bus departs from Bus Stop 5.
You can either buy tickets at the ticket office or on the bus (although some bus drivers insist you get them from the ticket office…).
There are some route alterations at the moment, so you will need to check the bus timetable for your selected travel date.
The best destination is the stop called Cathédrale – Vieille Ville and takes about 30 minutes. Alternative destinations are: Promenade des Arts, Muséum / Risso or Delfino. Not all of these stops are in operation all of the time.
The bus takes the route along the Promenade des Anglais, which gives great views of the sea and beach to your right. Cathédrale – Vieille Ville is the second stop after the bus turns left off the Promenade des Anglais and is where the road runs alongside the tram lines. Make sure you have pressed the Arrêt demandé button around the time you cross the tram lines!
The walk from disembarking the bus to the apartment takes about 5 minutes on foot.
Taking a taxi
Taxis from the airport will cost about €40 and are plentiful. They run all day and are a good option after the 98 bus service has finished for the day (about 23:50 in high season, can be earlier in the winter).
From Nice station (Gare SNCF Nice-ville)
Make sure you alight at Nice-ville (not Nice-Riquier)!
By tram
This is a very easy, inexpensive and efficient way to get to the apartment. Turn left after you exit the station and walk to the end of the road. The tram stop is right in front of you, on the junction with Avenue Jean Médecin. Take the tram in the direction Hopital Pasteur (see front of tram), which is the side of the road nearest the station (i.e. do not cross the tram tracks!) . Tickets cost €1.50 from the ticket machine on the platform, and the journey takes less than 10 minutes. (note: you must “stamp” the ticket in the yellow machines inside the tram when you board). Disembark at Cathédrale – Vieille Ville, the same stop as the airport bus. Simples!
On foot
The total journey on foot from the train station takes about 15 minutes through the main shopping area of Nice.
Turn left after you exit the station and walk to the end of the road. At the junction turn right onto Avenue Jean Médecin. Keep walking along this road until you reach Place Masséna at the bottom. Cross over the square, over the tram lines on the other side and head left on Boulevard Jean Jaures, in the same direction of travel as the traffic on that side. Take the first right after the Cathédrale – Vieille Ville bus/tram stop into la rue Centrale, about 5 minutes walk from the square and a few metres from the Cathédrale – Vieille Ville bus/tram stop. From there follow the email instructions we sent you.
Alternatively, at Place Masséna turn left into the park and walk up that way.
By car
Are you mad? Ok, possibly. The Old Town is a bit tricky for cars. You want to turn off Promenade des Anglais onto Boulevard Jean Jaurès and head north(ish). Keep in the right hand lane (do not enter the tunnel!). Bear right and drive straight on, across the East corner of Place Masséna. Drive past the first tram stop (Opéra – Vieille Ville) and then turn right immediately after the second (Cathédrale – Vieille Ville) into la rue Centrale. From there follow the email instructions for walking.
Parking is very limited in the Old Town. There are a number of car parks. Check these websites for more information:
